How Validator Selection works
IoTeX uses a randomized Delegated Proof of Stake (Roll-DPoS) mechanism.
Validators are ranked by votes received
A subset of 24 validators is randomly selected
Every 1 hour the selection refreshed
Rewards & Incentives
Epoch-based Incentives
Every 1 epoch (i.e. ~1 hour), the top 100 Delegates split an epoch bonus reward proportional to the percentage of total votes.
Block Production Rewards
24 block producers selected in each epoch earn a fixed reward of 4 IOTX per mined block (1 block every ~2.5 sec).
Optional Reward Sharing with Voters
Each delegate decides on their policy regarding how much to share with their voters.
